about

The Edge of Forever is about five years old. It is one of several tunes I wrote in response to Carl Sagan's book Cosmos. I originally created a suite of tunes, one for each chapter of the book, 12 in total. Three of these tunes developed into a suite for big band - the Edge is the middle movement of this suite. It's heard here in a small group setting.

Musically - a simple ballad that borrows some harmonic ideas from Billy Strayhhorn and one of my favourites, Don Grolnick.

lyrics

John Macleod, flugelhorn - Jon Stewart, tenor saxophone - Dave Barton, guitar - Greg Runions, vibraphone - Brian Dickinson, piano - Artie Roth, bass - Mike Cassells, drums.
